UPDATE:Battlefield 3 on PC to include Communication Rose

Added to game after massive feedback from the community.

PC gamers are in luck. As well as already benefiting from 64-player multiplayer, the PC version of Battlefield 3 will include the Communication Rose - a communication selector seen in Battlefield 2 and 2142. According to DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson (speaking to Gaming Lives), the plan is to get it in the game for day one.

"After the massive feedback from everyone in the community, we are putting in the Commo rose as well, on PC," said DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson. "It's going to come in very hot, but it is in the plan to get that done for day one."

The Commo rose enables the sending of quick messages to other players. It allows quick communication for all players, even for those without voice headsets.

At gamescom DICE revealed co-op for Battlefield 3 and released a stunning gameplay trailer - visible below.

UPDATE: Battlefield 3 PC requires EA Origin to play

You won't be able to play Battlefield 3 on PC without signing up to EA's digital distribution platform.

Even if you're purchasing a retail copy of the game, Battlefield 3 on PC will require an EA Origin account in order to play, DICE has revealed.

Responding to a question on Twitter, which asked if rumours that players would have to sign up to the digital distribution platform were true, DICE community manager Daniel Martos replied: "Yes those 'rumours' are true."

Battlefield 3 will be available from digital distribution services other than Origin, but not Steam.

It's was recently revealed that Battlefield 3 will probably have an online pass.

Battlefield 3 is due for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on October 28.

UPDATE:DICE reveals Battlefield 3 co-op using PlayStation 3

EA and DICE demonstrate PS3 version cooperatively at gamescom 2011.

EA and DICE have revealed that Battlefield 3 will include cooperative play for two players, and showcased a demo of the co-op mode in action during its gamescom 2011 presentation.

"Battlefield has always been a social experience, but Battlefield 3 takes this experience to a whole new level and Battlefield 3 extends the in game experience to be available anywhere, whether on your PC, console or mobile devices. Battleblog will keep you informed of every update from your friends, all in real time," said Karl Magnus Troedsson, General Manager DICE.

Co-op missions will offer the full Battlefield gameplay experience, including ground and air gameplay and tight urban warfare. The mission demonstrated on PlayStation 3 saw Troedsson and Patrick Soderlund, EVP EA Games having to rescue a high-value target and escort him to safety.
